Unforgettable, Filippo Ganna’s 2016 season cannot be defined in another way. After his triumph at the Worlds last March and the solo win obtained at Paris Roubaix Espoirs, the Italian cycling rising star conquered the gold medal in the Individual Pursuit at 2016 U23 Track European Championships, today in Montichiari’s Fassa Bortolo Velodrome.

On Tuesday July 12th, the 19-year-old from Piedmont, equipped by Northwave with Extreme shoes, was in the spotlight in the morning qualifying, obtaining the new Italian National Record in 4’14”.716.

In the afternoon’s final, the Team Colpack athlete dominated his opponent, Portoguese Ivo Oliveira, improving the previous performance with 4’14”.165, whilst the Frenchman Thomas Denis completed the day’s podium.

I wish to thank Northwave for providing me the new customized shoes with my name and the rainbow engraved. This shoes brought good luck to me as I was so powerful to obtain an outstanding result immediately”, Ganna said.

Ravanel and Enduro Mid dominating at Enduro World Series

Northwave took great joy in the Enduro World Series round 4 in La Thuile (Northern Italy), Saturday 16th and Sunday July 17th. French Cècile Ravanel (Commençal Vallnord Enduro Team) claimed a strong win in the women’s race with her Enduro Mid ahead of another rider equipped by the Italian brand, Isabeau Courdurier (SUNN), whilst Andréane Lanthier Nadeau (Rocky Mountain) completed the day’s podium.

The two Northwave athletes occupy the first overall places: Ravanel (three round-win this year) leads with 1550 points ahead of Courdinier (1310 points). In addition, Damien Oton (Devinci Enduro Racing) finished third in the men’s race won by Richie Rude, overall leader with 1920 points ahead of Northwave’s Frenchman (1530 points).

Throughout the 2016 Enduro World Series edition, Cécile Ravanel, Isabeau Courdurier and Damien Oton relied on a strong ally such as Northwave Enduro Mid. The new Enduro shoe concept is already visible on the upper: thermowelded construction, with foam inserts in the tongue for increased protection and comfort while maintaining the same thickness, and special toe reinforcement have been inspired by motocross for better shock protection. The exclusive Northwave SLW2 closing system was equipped with a special cover to shelter it, without affecting the easy access to it.

After starting a cooperation two years ago, successfully developing All-Mountain models Dolomites Evo and Spider Plus 2, Michelin Technical Soles’ technology once again matched with Northwave’s know-how to create the exclusive X-Fire outsole. Realized with two different compounds – softer in the inner part for better grip, a harder and more resistant one on the outside for improved shielding from abrasions and wear, X-Fire features aggressive sculptures in the toes area for optimal traction even on loose terrain, while the cleat area shoes a special design for faster clipping and better grip. In addition, Northwave X-Crossbow construction extends the heel area’s elasticity, improving the shoe’s shock absorption.
